Leadership Development For Leaders And Their Subordinates

Leadership style of an individual may be unique but rather it should never be so stiff and restricted that with change in a circumstance, it remains the same. Ideal leaders always have a flexible style of working and they adapt themselves with the situation in question. It is worth noticing that change in style is not as easy as it sounds. Coming out of your usual style of working- outside the protected cocoon often lead you into trouble and the situation may get off hand if not managed properly. Leadership development is essential to avert such situations. A leader’s development is must from every body’s point of view as he is the one who he leads several others. He sets an example for the people following him.

Leadership development becomes all the more important when it comes to the conduct of a leader in front of his subordinates. Emotional Intelligence for High Performing Leaders – Assessments to Measure EQ

Executive Coaching for leaders often involves the use of validated instrumented assessments that can help you assess whether you have certain personal and interpersonal competencies.

I typically incorporate a number of assessments in my coaching work and people seem to resonate with how they measure up with others in the area of emotional intelligence.

The Bar-On EQi emotional intelligence inventory recently released a new business report written in the language of business people. It has been well received by my clients. The report includes your being able to write an EQ Action Development Plan which will help you improve your leadership capability.

Men appear to have better self-regard, are more independent, solve problems better, are more flexible, and cope better with stress.

There is a new phrase used to describe the banks renegotiation of real estate loans on struggling businesses. Extend and Pretend is described as the practice to extend the maturity, and reduce principal payment amounts and interest rates.

Think of this as a more sophisticated version of home loans with little or no payment on principal and teaser interest rates. The argument is that giving borrowers more time to pay the debt will be less costly than what would happen if the banks took over the real estate and ran the business. Skeptics call the practice “extend and pretend”.

Before you get too comfortable and maybe even indignant about those fat cat bankers and their business dealings, look at yourself in the mirror. Stick out your balance sheet and get real.
